Switching from GoDaddy

Moving your domain from GoDaddy to us is straightforward. Unlock it, get your authorisation code, and send both to us. If you'd rather keep it registered at GoDaddy, you can point it to us instead. Everything below lives on the domain's Domain Settings page in your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio.

1. Unlock your domain

Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio and select the domain you want to move. This opens its Domain Settings page.

Under the Transfer section, switch the lock toggle to Off. Off means unlocked and ready to transfer.

2. Get your authorisation code

Still on the domain's page, under Transfer, choose Transfer to Another Registrar.

Work through the checklist, select Continue with transfer, then Click here to see Authorization Code and copy it.

GoDaddy shows the code on screen and also emails it to the domain's registrant address.

3. Send us the details

Send us your domain name and the authorisation code. For a .uk domain, just let us know and we'll send you our IPS tag to enter at GoDaddy.

We'll then start the transfer for you.

4. Approve, and we'll take it from there

GoDaddy may email you to confirm the transfer. Follow the link and approve it.

Transfers usually complete within 5 to 7 days. We'll let you know when it's done.

Rather keep it at GoDaddy and point it to us?

You can leave the domain registered at GoDaddy and simply point it to us instead.

On the domain's Domain Settings page, choose DNS, then Nameservers, pick 'I'll use my own nameservers', enter the ones we give you, and Save.

Using your domain for email?

If you use your domain for email, tell us before you change anything so we can make sure it keeps working.

Before you start

A domain can't be transferred within 60 days of being registered or last transferred. If it came free as part of a website or hosting bundle, GoDaddy may hold it for 120 days.

If you're not sure, tell us and we'll check for you.
