How to transfer your domain to us

Transferring your domain means moving the management of your web address, such as yourbusiness.com, from your current provider to us. Don't worry if your domain is currently with Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or another provider. The process is usually very similar.

On Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or GoDaddy?

We have a step-by-step for each of those, showing the exact menus and buttons to look for. If you're on one of them, start there. It's quicker than the general steps below.

Prefer to keep your domain where it is?

You don't have to transfer your domain to move to us. If you'd rather leave it registered where it is, you can point it to us by changing its nameservers instead. It's often the quicker option and changes less.

1. Find out where your domain is registered

Log in to the company you currently use for your website or domain. This may be:

  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • WordPress
  • GoDaddy
  • IONOS
  • Namecheap
  • Another domain provider

Look for a section called Domains, Domain Settings or Domain Management.

2. Unlock your domain

Find the domain you want to transfer and look for an option called Domain Lock or Transfer Lock.

Make sure this is switched off, or the domain is shown as unlocked.

3. Get your transfer code

Look for an option such as:

  • Transfer domain
  • Transfer away
  • Get transfer code
  • Authorisation code
  • EPP code

Your current provider will usually show the code on screen or email it to you.

Keep this code handy. We'll need it to start the transfer.

4. Send us the details

Send us:

  • Your domain name
  • Your transfer or authorisation code

We'll then start the transfer for you.

5. Approve the transfer

Your current domain provider may send you an email asking you to confirm that you want to move the domain.

Simply follow the instructions in that email and approve the transfer.

6. We'll take it from there

Once approved, the transfer will begin. Domain transfers can take a few days to complete.

We'll let you know when everything has been successfully moved across.

Before you start

Please make sure you can access the email address linked to your domain, as you may need it to approve the transfer.

If you use your domain for email as well as your website, let us know before making any changes so we can help make sure everything continues working.

Can't find the transfer option?

No problem. Tell us who your current provider is and we can point you in the right direction.
