Switching from Squarespace
Moving your domain from Squarespace to us is straightforward. Unlock it, request your transfer code, and send both to us. If you'd rather keep it registered at Squarespace, you can point it to us instead. If your domain came across in the Google Domains move to Squarespace, it works exactly the same way.
1. Unlock your domain
Open your Squarespace domains dashboard and click the domain you want to move.
Find the Domain lock toggle on the domain's page and switch it off.
2. Request your transfer code
On the domain's page, click Request transfer code and confirm with your password or two-factor code.
Squarespace emails the code to the domain's contact address, with the subject 'Auth code for your domain'.
3. Send us the details
Send us your domain name and the transfer code, and we'll start the transfer for you.
4. Approve, and we'll take it from there
Follow any confirmation email to approve the move. A Squarespace transfer can take up to about 15 days, and we'll let you know when it's done.
Transferring the domain doesn't cancel your Squarespace site or hosting. If you no longer want those, cancel them separately.
Rather keep it at Squarespace and point it to us?
You can leave the domain at Squarespace and point it to us with custom nameservers.
In the domains dashboard, open the domain, click DNS, then Domain Nameservers, choose Use Custom Nameservers, enter the ones we give you, and Save.
Using your domain for email?
If you use your domain for email, especially with Google Workspace, tell us before changing anything so we can keep it working.
Before you start
A domain can't be transferred within 60 days of being registered, transferred in, or having its contact details changed.
