Switching from Wix
Moving your domain from Wix to us is straightforward. Wix handles unlocking as part of starting the transfer, then emails you an authorisation code to send us. One thing to know up front: Wix doesn't let you set custom nameservers on a Wix domain, so if you'd rather keep it there, we point it a slightly different way. More on that below.
1. Start the transfer at Wix
Wix doesn't have a separate unlock switch. Unlocking happens as part of starting the transfer.
In your Wix account, go to Domains, click the Domain Actions icon next to your domain, and choose Transfer away from Wix. Review the details, click Transfer Domain, then I Still Want to Transfer.
3. Send us the details
Send us your domain name and the authorisation code, and we'll start the transfer for you.
4. Approve, and we'll take it from there
Follow any confirmation email to approve the move. A transfer usually takes up to about 7 days, and we'll let you know when it's done.
Just want to keep it at Wix and point it to us?
Worth knowing: Wix doesn't let you set custom nameservers on a Wix domain, so the usual 'change your nameservers' method isn't available here.
We can still point your site to us another way, by editing the domain's DNS records at Wix while it stays registered there. Tell us what you'd prefer and we'll recommend the simplest route.
Using your domain for email?
If you use your domain for email, tell us before you change anything so we can keep it working through the move.
Before you start
A domain can't be transferred within 60 days of being registered, transferred, or having its contact details changed. Turn off Private Registration first so you don't miss the transfer emails.
